Food, Gentrification and Located Life Plans

Abstract Even though the phenomenon of gentrification is ever-growing in contemporary urban contexts, especially high income countries, it has been mostly overlooked by normative political theorists and philosophers. In this paper we examine dimensions through lens food. By drawing on Huber Wolkenstein’s (Huber Wolkenstein, Politics, Philosophy & Economics 17:378–397, 2018) work, use food as an example to illustrate multiple ways which life plans can be located argue that both existing residents newcomers have interest occupancy rights. More specifically, while moving freely new neighbourhoods order purse their preferred plans, they also being able continue pursue those once acquired them, requires rights implementation measures aimed at regulating slowing down gentrification. Moreover, when belong already disadvantaged groups, more significant anti-gentrification implemented prevent injustices from compounded.
